The Enemy is Fear Not Hate
Today’s Moment of Gratitude goes out to my friend Ellen, Frank Oz, and Gandhi who coined the phrase, “The enemy is fear, not hate.”
I try not to watch the news. When I do, I stick with BBC America and CBS News because in my opinion, those two stations are the most reliable and neutral.
I figure if something really important is going on in the world, I’ll read about it on Facebook.
Here’s what I garner has happened in the past few days based on my Facebook feed. Do any of these statements cause you to fear?
- Texas is threatening to secede (again) over fear of a US Government takeover posing as a multi-state training exercise.
- The American Stock Exchange stopped trading due to computer issues.
- All United Airlines flights were grounded due to computer issues.
I have NOT fact checked any of the above, I am just sharing what came across my Facebook feed. How accurate are my suppositions?
If the news makes you afraid, remember this quote from Gandhi:
I posted this image to my Facebook wall a couple of days ago. My friend Ellen reposted it with this caption:
“From Kandas Nesbitt-Rodarte my contemporary, this worldly, non-George Lucas Yoda.”
Now that is a compliment!!
“Always pass on what you have learned.” – Yoda
Thank you Ellen for totally making my day, and giving me a reason to blog today. I try to follow Yoda’s advice and share the wisdom I gather. Learned much have I during my 45 years of paying attention to those who are smarter than I.
Thank you Frank Oz for giving life to Yoda, and being an inspiration to millions, including me.
Thank you Gandhi, your legacy lives on and you continue to inspire non-violent change in a world that just might be even crazier than it was during your lifetime.
“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.” – Yoda
